The Resilience Project at Lakelands Primary School

At Lakelands Primary School, The Resilience Project supports the wellbeing of our students by teaching practical strategies that build resilience, emotional awareness and positive mental health.

Students participate in weekly lessons focused on the key principles of Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness, commonly known as GEM. Through classroom discussions, activities, journals and regular GEM chats, students learn how to recognise and manage their emotions, show kindness towards others and appreciate the positive moments in their lives.

The Resilience Project is embedded across our whole school and is supported through assemblies, classroom activities, staff professional learning and communication with families. By using consistent language and strategies, we aim to create a supportive school environment where students feel connected, confident and equipped to manage challenges.

Our goal is to help every student develop the skills they need to build positive relationships, regulate their emotions and approach everyday life with resilience.
