Physical Education

At Lakelands Primary School, Physical Education provides an inclusive and engaging learning environment that inspires every student to develop a lifelong appreciation for health, fitness and physical activity. Through a wide range of enjoyable and challenging learning experiences, students build fundamental movement skills while developing teamwork, leadership, cooperation, resilience, confidence and sportsmanship.

Throughout the year, students participate in units that expose them to a variety of individual and team sports, allowing them to refine their skills, challenge themselves and experience success in different physical activities.

In Term 2, students prepare for and participate in the school Cross Country Carnival, while Term 3 focuses on athletics in preparation for the Athletics Carnival. These whole-school events provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate the skills and determination they have developed throughout the year and are made even more special through the support of our families and wider school community. Students who perform strongly may be selected to represent Lakelands Primary School at interschool competitions against other schools in the Coastal Sporting Schools Association.

Senior Sport is offered to Year 5 and 6 students every Friday afternoon, providing opportunities to develop advanced skills, experience a range of sports and compete against neighbouring schools. Throughout the year, students may have the opportunity to represent Lakelands in League Tag Rugby, AFL, Tee-ball, Basketball, Volleyball, Netball, Soccer and Cricket.

In Term 3, Year 4 students also participate in specialised athletics sessions designed to prepare them for future carnival participation.

During Term 4, students are introduced to a variety of unique and emerging sports, encouraging them to apply their skills in new contexts while fostering curiosity, adaptability and a willingness to try new activities.

At Lakelands Primary School, our Physical Education program aims to ensure every student feels challenged, supported and inspired to lead an active, healthy lifestyle both at school and beyond.
